Don't Cry for the Horses
Don’t cry for the horses that life has set free.
A million white horses forever to be.
Don’t cry for the horses now in God’s hands,
As they dance and they prance to a heavenly band.
They were ours as a gift, but never to keep,
As they close their eyes, forever to sleep.
Their spirits unbound, on silver wings they fly,
A million white horses against the blue sky.
Look up into heaven. You’ll see them above.
The horses we lost, the horses we loved.
Manes and tails flowing, they gallop through time.
They were never yours.
They were never mine.
Don’t cry for the horses.
They will be back someday.
When our time has come, they will show us the way.
Do you hear that soft nicker close to your ear?
Don’t cry for the horses, love the ones that are here.

Sunshine came into my life as a spunky little girl that was so anticipated. Long nights of mare stare and then she arrived on a ray of sunshine on a Sunday just before noon. You had been on stall rest for a twisted back leg and were doing so well but then you got under the stall divider and into a stall without a fan and got too hot, we found you in time and you seemed to be doing so well, nursing, drinking and eating with your mom, but your little heart just could not go on and I came home to find you gone the next day laying in front of your fan. I had you for 29 wonderful days my "Lil Rayo Sunshine" and then you were taken away from me so suddenly from heat related complications. Accept your Wings my Lil Rayo Sunshine. When I see that Ray of Sunshine streaming from between dark rain clouds I’ll know that is you say "HI MOM" I’m fine. Take your WINGS AND FLY my dear little SUNNY!!! Know you were loved and cherished while you were here. 7-12-2004 |
